Advocating for Parking Reform for Annapolis
The Annapolis Parking Alliance is a Coalition of Residents and Business Owners that are dedicated to advancing parking policy that is affordable, safe, accessible and equitable.
Our Mission
Effective Parking Policies should enhance neighborhood livability, support local commerce, promote public safety, and ensure equitable access throughout Annapolis.
Through research, public education, and advocacy, we strive to develop effective and sustainable parking solutions that serve the interests of those who live, work, and visit our city.
The Human Side of Parking
Hear directly from the residents, businesses, and employees on the everyday challenges of parking in downtown Annapolis.
Our Objectives
We work collaboratively with residents, businesses, elected officials, and city staff to create a parking system that balances neighborhood quality of life, economic vitality, accessibility, and public safety.
Success will be measured not by the number of policies proposed, but by meaningful improvements that make Annapolis easier to live in, work in, and visit.
How Does Annapolis Parking Compare?
To better understand Annapolis's parking system, we compared it with five historic, waterfront cities that share many of the same characteristics, including tourism, walkable downtowns, and municipal parking operations. They include Alexandria, VA, Charleston, SC, Frederick, MD, Newport, RI and St. Augustine, FL. This benchmark examines publicly available data on payment technology, employee parking, enforcement practices, on-street meter rates, and garage and lot pricing. By comparing these measurable policies and programs, the data provide objective context for understanding where Annapolis aligns with its peers and where there may be opportunities to consider alternative approaches.
